Jennifer started dancing over 25 years ago and her feet havent stopped since. With training in a broad range of disciplines, Jennifer has always striven to be a versatile, well-rounded dancer and has had the opportunity to train with several incredible teachers. Jennifer has also danced with the Royal City Youth Ballet Company, Theatre Under the Stars, and the 2010 Winter Olympic Games. Jennifer believes that there is great value in studying dance at any age/level and that the benefits of a dance education reach far beyond technical proficiency. She is passionate about creating positive, student-focused, class environments that nurture creativity and allow dancers to achieve their potential.

Dr. Thomas Leung graduated from the University of British Columbia with a BSc Honours in biochemistry. He then went on to receive his Doctor of Optometry with Distinction at the University of Waterloo. During this time, he gained clinical experience completing internships with ophthalmologists in Edmonton. He enjoys working with patients of all ages and is committed to providing a high standard of eye care. Dr. Leung has an interest and extensive experience in the assessment and management of a large variety of eye conditions and diseases, including expertise in myopia management for children. This is an area of eye care that involves slowing the progression of myopia and reducing the rate a childs vision worsens by utilizing orthokeratology, specialty contact lenses, and other treatments.

Dr. Neetu Dhiman practice is strongly rooted in following the laws of how the body heals. She believes that a profound level of transformation occurs when a patient, so fiercely committed to their healing, works in union with her as their Practitioner. Each and every patient has a unique story, a unique set of circumstances triggering symptoms, and has a unique biology. Dr. Neetu Dhiman believes the key to much of healing lies in a patient feeling seen and deeply heard. She believes that one of her true gifts is to listen and hear a person. As she listens to each patient relay their story, they unknowingly are sharing origins of disease and also how to correct it.

Dr. John Kim is a native of British Columbia and received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of British Columbia. He then continued his professional education at the State University of New York, State College of Optometry in New York City, NY where he earned both his Doctor of Optometry and Masters of Science in Vision Science degrees. Dr. Kim furthered his education by completing a residency in Cornea and Contact Lenses at SUNY, State College of Optometry. In 2001, Dr. Kim remained in Academia for the next 10 years as a Clinical Professor at SUNY, State College of Optometry. As well, Dr. Kim concurrently worked at St. Mary’s Eye and Surgery Center, a well-known ophthalmology practice with several offices in the New York Tri-State Area. Dr. Kim has over 10 yrs experience in treating and managing glaucoma, medical retina, and pre and post-operative surgical management. Dr. Kim is also involved in specialty contact lens fittings, pediatrics, low-vision and remains committed to providing you with the best possible eye care.

As the Studio Director of Defy Gravity, Rishell oversees the training of each dancer and strives to ensure that each student meets their physical, artistic, social and, emotional potential. She is a member in good standing of Healthy Dancer Canada and BC Dance Educators Association as well as Acrobatic Arts Canada. Rishell was a member of the Board of Directors for the Richmond Arts Coalition for many years where she worked to increase awareness of the importance of Art in everyday lives and has been voted Top 3 Best Dance Teacher (Richmond Review “Best of Richmond” contest) every year since 2006. In addition to her volunteer work in the community, Miss Rishell also served on the Richmond Arts Strategy Steering Committee helping to develop an Arts Strategy Plan currently being implemented in the City of Richmond and was appointed to the Gateway Theatre Endowment Committee in 2014 where she adjudicated funding for artistic ventures in Richmond. Miss Rishell served as the President of the Board of Directors of Renew Humanity where she helped raise funds to send deserving students in Uganda to school and adjudicated applications for funding.

As a young girl, in love with the idea of ballet, Miyouki Jego stood frozen in the doorway of her first ballet class. The little five-year-old quietly wept in the corner of the studio, intently observing but far too intimidated to actively participate. Several weeks passed. One day the director of the studio called Miyouki and her mother into her office, sat in front of the fledgling student, and asked directly, Do you want to dance?. Young Jego finally raised her head to look directly into the eyes of her interrogator and confidently replied, yes. From that moment on Jego has not stopped dancing. She is now the owner and director of Sea Island Ballet Studios Inc. Having had extensive professional training in Ontario, Alberta and British Columbia, Ms. Jego always had a desire to teach. Following her dreams, she has looked to the likes of Hanne Livingstone, David Adams, Terri-Lynne Banfield, Sheila Kennedy, and many other accomplished professionals for mentorship. She has now been teaching for over 20 years. Miyouki Jego is a certified Cecchetti instructor. She continues to develop her career worldwide particularly in the Cecchetti method of ballet, with the internationally accredited Cecchetti Society. Not limited to ballet, Ms. Jego has also been trained in various disciplines of dance including tap, jazz, modern, musical theatre, lyrical, and flamenco.
