Above anything, they want to make and serve great-tasting food while showcasing and supporting local farmers, brewers, producers, suppliers, bakers, and gelato makers. Their ambitions are to be a part of a local movement to curb the trend of chain restaurants, giant food producers, and suppliers. One of the key tenants is trying to keep money in our local economy, which will allow local businesses to thrive in a challenging global market. This comes with great difficulty because the cost of using local ingredients and making everything from scratch is much higher than purchasing items that are pre-made. However, the quality of freshly grown ingredients and small-batch production can’t be matched. All in all, their goal is to have fun serving healthy food in a positive environment.

Iconic Barbs Fish Chips is floating in Victoria BC’s Inner Harbour at the vibrant Fisherman’s Wharf and has been serving up delicious fresh seafood for over 39 years. Families flock to enjoy locally caught BC Halibut with a crunchy crust served up alongside golden fries, crisp coleslaw, and tangy house-made tartar sauce. Generations have fallen in love with these world-famous Fish Chips but Barbs friendly team also dishes up towering house-made burgers, legendary seafood chowder plus local Fanny Bay oysters, clams, and Salt Spring mussels all soaked in butter. Visitors and locals soak up the seaside activity while they enjoy meals on the dock alongside fishermen, sailboats, houseboats, seaplanes, and seals playing in the harbour. Each of Sheringham’s spirits has a story and is tied to the terroir where they were created. These developments have led to Sheringham’s flagship Seaside Gin taking home the World’s Best Contemporary Gin award. Sheringham believes that business sustainability is crucial to help our world today and ensure that future generations can also thrive. Their sustainable initiatives include: utilizing winged kelp in their Seaside Gin which is sustainably harvested by a licensed biologist from their home on Canada’s West Coast; giving a percentage of all their proceeds to SeaLegacy (an organization with a mission of creating healthy and abundant oceans through the power of visual storytelling; and their goal is to be carbon neutral by 2023. Bad Dog Brewing Company is a craft microbrewery in Sooke, British Columbia. They welcome you to come by and try their tasty brews. They offer their products in single tall cans, 4 packs, kegs, growler fills, and tasting flights. Enjoy a cold beer and delicious food in their indoor tasting room, patio, or picnic area! The Hot Diggitty-Dog food trailer is open from Wednesday to Sunday. Bad Dog brewery tours and samples are available during their open hours. Bad Dog Brewing Company has 12 taps available for tasters and growler fills! Packaged snacks and our branded merchandise are also available at the brewery.

Just off the Pacific Marine Circle Route, there’s a Funky A-frame in the heart of Shirley. Since 2013, Shirley Delicious has been serving hungry explorers with its unique take on cafe fare. Freshly baked goodies, brunch, lunch, desserts, and of course, Shirley Delicious Coffee, roasted by Agro Roasters, local Honestly Teas, and JagaSilk Chais. Baked fresh daily are Muffins bursting with flavour, Croissants stuffed with chocolate, pesto, and cheddar, or cinnamon topped with homemade Salted Caramel, Savoury Pork, and Caramelized Apple Sausage Rolls, and whatever tasty creations the bakers come up with. Desserts ranging from seasonal fruit pies to decadent Cherry Espresso Cheesecake Brownies or Gluten Free Peanut Butter Chocolate Shortbread. All items are made in-house from scratch, and many dietary requirements can easily be accommodated, there are always vegan, gluten-free, and dairy-free options available.
