Sunshine Coast Healthcare Auxiliary is committed to providing volunteer services and raising funds to enhance the quality of healthcare on the Sunshine Coast. In addition to raising funds the auxiliary volunteers also: Operate the loan cupboard and the gift store at Sechelt Hospital, and the Sechelt Hospital Thrift Store. Provide care and comfort services to the residents of Totem Lodge, Shorncliffe, and two extended-care facilities. Provide Granting Programs. Knit caps for every newborn baby at Sechelt Hospital. Hold birthday parties for residents of Totem/Shorncliffe. Provide hair care services for Totem/Shorncliffe residents. Fund training for extended care staff and volunteers. Provide hanging baskets and bedding plants for Shorncliffe/Totem gardens. Make “worry dolls” for children in the hospital. Sponsor a program for junior volunteers where they have the opportunity to work alongside health care professionals, helping youth evaluate what it would be like to have a health care career. Send local junior volunteers to participate in BCAHA youth conferences. Provide bursaries every year for Grade 12 graduates who are entering a health care program. Memorial funds are often directed as bursaries for 2nd, 3rd, and 4th-year students who are pursuing health care careers. Their junior volunteers are always considered when making bursary decisions.

BC First Aid provides safety instruction by request and on your schedule. Training includes practical hands-on training delivered by certified instructors. Training and workshops are provided at BC First Aids purpose-built training facility or can be offered in the workplace and in the community.

Sunshine Coast Lifeline is part of the Comox Valley Lifeline Society which serves the Sunshine Coast, Cowichan Valley, Chemainus-Crofton, Comox Valley, Campbell River, and North Vancouver Island. Lifeline is an easy-to-use personal emergency response system that lets you summon help any time of the day or night, even if you cant speak. Not all falls can be prevented. If a fall does occur, older adults need to be sure they can reach help easily and quickly, especially if they are injured, in order to prevent further injury and dangerous complications. All you have to do is press your Personal Help Button, worn on a wristband or pendant and a Personal Response Associate will ensure you get help fast. The Comox Valley Lifeline Society offers a variety of medical alert services designed specifically for older adults that provide fast, 24/7 access to expert help in an emergency.
