Sunshine Coast Hospice Society provides compassionate, respectful end-of-life and bereavement support for residents of the Sunshine Coast. Living with illness, dying, and grieving are normal parts of life that we will all eventually experience. They support people to live well right to the end of life, and after death and also support their family and friends as they grieve. Coast Hospice believes those living with a terminal illness have the right to make their own choices about how they live and how they die and endeavours to support them in those choices with compassion and respect.

Sunshine Coast Foundation provides stable and sustainable financial support to charitable organizations from Port Mellon to Egmont. They offer donors the opportunity to increase their impact by pooling the gifts they receive and carefully investing them. Each year, they use the earnings on their investments to provide funding to local charities. They help to connect donors with the causes that inspire them and the charities that are having the greatest positive impact. The Sunshine Coast Foundation’s Vital Signs program compiles current and relevant research to help local organizations and decision-makers understand the issues and trends facing the Sunshine Coast community. Each year, the Foundation awards more than $165,000 in grants to local Sunshine Coast charities. Several granting streams match different organizational needs. The Sunshine Coast Foundation is stepping up to help local efforts to address the impacts of the COVID-19 crisis with the Sunshine Coast COVID-19 Emergency Relief Fund. The Powell River Region Transition House Society can be found at #209-4801 Alberni Street. All programs are here except for Grace House which is in a secure and confidential location in town. The Children Who Witness Abuse Program serves children and youth from 3-18, the Stopping the Violence Outreach Program supports women from 18+ to access programs and agencies in Powell River. The Stopping the Violence Counselling program also supports women 18+ in 1:1 sessions. Grace House supports women who are fleeing abuse in a residential setting. The women are given time and space to plan their next step.
